Home vegetable gardening is the concept of growing vegetables at our homes. Vegetable gardening may not always be for financial interest but it is a hobby for some people. By growing fresh vegetables, herbs, fruits can provides a great sense of joy and accomplishment to some people. Apart from being a hobby, it can also reduce a family's monthly budget. Further more home gardening can also serve as a source of vegetable, which is very rare in market and if that vegetable is of our interest. The important thing in home vegetable gardening is that the vegetables, fruits, etc that are grown at home are much fresher, Tasty and of a good quality as compared to the vegetables that are available in the market. Initially it was thought that vegetable growing is not that attractive and so was usually done in the in a separate location. However, if good planning about the plantation is done than vegetable garden can also be attractive.

There are important things that one should understand while staring a home vegetable garden as follows. Every vegetable needs sunlight. One should see that every vegetable plant could get sunlight for at least six hours per day. Therefore, the vegetable plants must not be planted in the shade of the buildings. The garden should be very close to your home so that one can easily reach the plants daily. The soil should have a good texture and to have a good draining quality. The garden needs at least one inch of water every week and so it is necessary to locate the garden near a water source. In addition, the vegetable garden should have a good air draining capability.

Soil if is not up to the mark we can improve it by adding clay, Organic matter to it. One can also go for soil analysis and pH level check up in the laboratory. This can give a fair idea about the quantity of fertilizers and organic matter that one has to add in order to improve the quality of the soil. Generally, fertilizers are to be added at the time of planting or before it. Before starting the plantation one must draw a design of how the garden should be and plan a proper place for a particular vegetable.

The extra grown weeds and grass are to be removed time to time so that the vegetable plant is not affected because of that. Thus, one can really enjoy the garden work as well as enjoy the fresh fruits and vegetables in their own garden. Home gardening can also help a person to come out of the tensions of his urban life and enjoy the nature's beauty.
